Well, it’s a mere 21 days until our baby playgroup begins. Little one has been helping me prepare some high contrast visual cards that we will be using in playgroup, starting on the 15th of November. Not one to be left out, Monty has been helping us recycle the off-cuts. Highly contrasting colours and simple patterns are the easiest things for babies to see at a very young age, so we have been collecting our favourites.
From the very first seconds of life, your baby is learning how to see the world. Their visual system is the least developed of all the senses at birth, and there are things you can do to help your little baby master the skills of focusing, tracking objects and moving their eyes together. By 8 weeks old, your baby can focus on faces and begin to recognise their features. Seeing as you are your baby’s favourite thing to look at, it’s your features they are beginning to distinguish! At 4 months old, your baby can focus on objects further away at between 8 to 10 inches in front of them.
Make sure you reserve a spot at our playgroup to see what else we have been up to lately.
